Safe, Online Shopping Through PayPal.
PayPal buyer protection policy announced new and improved for consumers throughout the Asia Pacific region who wish to shop online.PayPal buyer protection policy currently applies to all registered users in Asia Pacific, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
"PayPal is implementing this new policy in order to fully maximize the potential of online shopping in the Asia Pacific region," said Nimish Dwivedi, Regional Head of Marketing, Asia Pacific PayPal, in his statement, July 5, 2010.
Dwivedi says, consumers are now more assured that the financial information and e-commerce transactions are protected with them better when they buy goods from the Internet.
"Responding to consumer demand, the buyer protection policy now enables the buyers who have bought goods that meet the requirements through PayPal to get full refund if they do not receive goods from the seller," said Dwivedi.
When shopping at online retailers that are new or not yet well known, especially on overseas websites, Dwivedi said, consumers are generally concerned about the risks, such as fraud, security and goods not delivered.
"Research recently conducted by PayPal and AC Nielsen showed that security (39%) is a major concern for online shoppers in Australia," said Dwivedi. "The privacy of information (17%) and consumer protection (16%) are the two main concerns for the shopper in Hong Kong," he said.
